The dwarves Brokk and Eitri were either sons or kinsmen of the dwarf Sindri. They were great craftsman and were considered “Elf-Smiths” as Sindri was schooled by the great Elven smith Ivaldi. These two bet their skills against Loki and won, Brokk sewing Loki’s mouth shut upon victory.

Brokk was very small and always blackened from his smithy. He was noted for his skill as a jeweler as well. Eitri’s skill was in metal-working.

Together Brokk and Eitri forged Odhinn’s arm-ring Draupnir, Thorr’s hammer Mjolnir, and Freyr’s boar Gullinbursti.
